The media firestorm that surrounds the sad saga of Britney Spears may get even more intense. I've learned the mixed-up pop tart's mom, Lynne Spears, is quietly talking to attorneys about filing her own lawsuit to battle ex-son-in-law Kevin Federline for custody of his and Britney's two young sons.
While spokesfolks for all involved declined comment, my best Britney inside source told me Tuesday, ''Lynne is determined to find some way to keep Britney from losing those kids.''
She apparently is arguing that Federline has been seen doing drugs and possibly cavorting with a woman in front of the boys.
While K-Fed's own fathering skills may be called into question, many observers also might challenge a potential Lynne Spears custody action. ''Given how Britney's turned out, I wonder what kind of role model she'd be. ... Knowing Lynne, she'll be out trying to turn those two little boys into moneymakers too,'' sneered a former top Spears management team member.
