Britney Spears must hand over custody of her sons to Kevin Federline this week "until further notice of the court," a judge ruled Monday after a closed-door hearing.

The judge gave no reasons in his written decision, issued after lawyers met with him in chambers in a session requested by Federline's lawyer. The ruling says that Federline gets custody starting Wednesday.

A judge has decided that Kevin Federline will get custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, starting this Wednesday. At a hearing in the Federline v. Spears custody case in Los Angeles Monday, the court ordered that Federline take care of the children he shares with ex-wife Britney Spears until further order of the court.

Breaking: Britney Loses Kids

Beleaguered pop star Britney Spears has lost custody of her children OK! can exclusively reveal.

By order of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, she is to turn the boys over to ex-hubby Kevin Federline this Wednesday, at which point Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James Federline will remain with their father until further notice.

This decision effectively reverses the court's earlier decision for Brit and K-Fed to share the boys for the duration of the custody hearing.

It's still not known what the underlying cause of the order, whether its Brit's alleged driving without a license or perhaps that the singer failed a court-order drug test.

Reps for both sides in the case will return to court on Wednesday.

The ruling, obtained by OK! says:
"Respondent's oral motion pursuant to section 214FC is granted and the matter proceeds as a closed hearing. The court and all parties present confer on the record that the court makes its order as fully reflected in the notes of the official court reporter. The court's prior order including the orders made on September 28, 2007 remain in full force and effect with the following modification: Respondent is to retain physical custody of the minor children on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 12 PM until further order of the Court. Repondent's ex-parte application is noticed for October 3, 2007 at 1:30 PM in Department 88."

I saw that one coming a mile away. Will this be enough for Britney to finally clean up her act? I hope she goes to rehab for a good long while.

This is great news! Brit has no one to blame but herself. Instead of acting like a mother, she acted like a crack whore.

Its a sad situation but you could have seen this coming a mile away! She did abosolutely nothing to help her case.

I really wasn't expecting this, it's just until further notice though so maybe they'll make it 70/30.

Further notice is Wednesday.

I suspect she failed her random drug and alcohol tests. Serves her right, the way she messaged her divorce to Kevin on a cell phone. Now Kevin gets the kids and the last laugh! LOL

Daisy, there's an interview with Kevin's attorney on this site a little while back - he said 70/30 was never what was asked for because the courts don't work they way. He said Kevin was simply asking for primary custody.

I'm not sure what is needed to wrap things up at this point, but Kevin now has 100% physical custody of the kids "until further notice". I'm curious what kind of visitation rights Britney has.

What took so long? Britney has been given so many chances to change her ways for her kids, but she didn't. She just got worse and worse. I don't see why some people are feeling sorry for her. I guess they are fine with a drug abuser raising kids.

I really thought the judge ruling 2 weeks ago wouldn't given Britney the push she needed to finally say, this is it, I'm going to try my hardest to get help and show the judge that yes, I can do it, and for my children I will.

It seem Britney is even more unwell than is thought, this is not postpartum, this is something bigger, deeper, the question is now, is Britney going to realize something is wrong and reach out to her family and let them help her to get the help she needs and gives her the support she needs to get through what's going on.
