Lots of people are trying to figure out if there are any changes as a result of everything that happened yesterday. Something concrete that came out of it is that in the future, elements like "child custody and visitation issues," will be blacked out of court documents, something that was requested by both Kevin and Britney's attorneys. Personally I'm happy to hear it, I don't think it's necessary for the world to know every detail of what is going on. I suspect we will still have an idea though. The attorneys are always bombarded with questions, which they may or may not answer. As well, I suspect if Britney has the kids with her she will make sure the public is aware of it, and when Lynne is with the kids at Kevin's she seems to do the same.
Usmagazine.com is reporting that the joint 50-50 custody arrangement has not changed. This was reported to The Insider by attorney Mel Goldsman, who works with Marci Levine, one of Britney's new attorneys. Laura Wasser also told People yesterday that the 50-50 arrangement stands, and claimed Tony Barretto isn't a credible witness. Fox News is reporting today that "sources tell me that Spears is just a breath away from Commissioner Scott Gordon ruling that her children will be placed in the custody of ex-husband Kevin Federline." Perez Hilton said something about sources close to the situation telling him Kevin Federline and his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, are “extremely grateful for the results of the court proceedings”. Gloria Allred was on the Today Show this morning, she said she could not reveal the results since documents are sealed. She claims Judge Hatchett was not concerned about the nudity, but was concerned about the drug use issues.
I think one thing we have to remember is that these are lawyers, they're paid to present their client in the best possible light. That's why when Laura is asked, Britney's doing well, and when Mark is asked, Kevin is "great". The tabloids and news have their own motivations for reporting things in the way they do, basically to report the most interesting story possible and provide new information so hopefully everyone will flock to them. The real story is probably made up of bits and pieces here and there along with some things that are not reported at all. So for myself, I'll just keep watching without jumping to any sudden conclusions, and I think over time we should get a general idea of what is really happening.
Hopefully, there are lots of happier stories to report about as well - I much prefer it when I'm posting things like Kevin's next "One Tree Hill" episode.
