I've read some reactions to my posts, and one complaint I've seen is that I'm missing information and that I'm biased. The truth is, I simply don't believe about 95% of what I read about Kevin and Britney. Most of it is made up and then repeated a thousand times. If I haven't posted it here, it means I think it's most likely not true. If I figure there's at least a 50% chance of it being true I'll post it. I don't know if the following rumors are true or not, they're not from reliable sources. But I want them to be true.
There is, however, a glimmer of civility. TMZ has learned that Britney is flying into L.A. today for the American Music Awards, and she is working out a plan so that K-Fed can see the kids. We're told he's missing them. Baby steps.
Brit to Jimmy: How dare you trash K-Fed!
Jimmy Kimmel thought he was being funny — but Britney Spears definitely was not amused.
In his opening monologue as host of the American Music Awards last night, Jimmy called K-Fed a “no-hit wonder” just before a skit in which a likeness of Kevin was placed in a wooden crate and dumped in the ocean. Jimmy quipped that that was the last anyone would ever see of K-Fed.
Britney stepped on stage soon afterward (Jimmy introduced her as “the new bachelorette”) to present the award for best R&B/soul album to Mary J. Blige; the timing gave the appearance that Brit was complicit in humiliating her soon-to-be–ex-husband and the father of her two boys.
But an insider tells Life & Style that Brit was furious that Jimmy made a punch line out of K-Fed. Standing in the wings, the insider says, “She said she didn’t want to go out there.”
She went through with her appearance at the urging of a producer, then “ran off the stage in tears,” says the insider. Brit holed up in her trailer outside LA’s Shrine Auditorium and was “just devastated,” the insider adds.
After about 20 minutes in her trailer, the insider says, “Spears had words with someone from the show, then said she didn’t want her seats, and that no photo or image of her was to be used for any promotion or connection with the show — and then she left.”
So what motivated Brit’s anger? The insider says she has no interest in reuniting with Kev but was mortified to see the father of her children ridiculed, even if in jest, before a national TV audience.
I'd like to believe that Britney is not interested in seeing Kevin hurt. I really would for the sake of everyone in that family. But a couple of things still bother me. We still saw her going to Paris' after party. And more than that, it's hard to forget the way she dumped him in the first place. It was a pretty cold and calculated move. It's one thing to be trashed by Jimmy Kimmel, an entirely different thing to be dumped by your wife in the way that he was. Maybe she's had some time to reflect on it. I don't know but for the sake of those kids I really hope they will be able to have a civil relationship in the future.
UPDATE: I have more faith in at least the second rumor, since it was posted by People as well:
Britney 'Blindsided' By K-Fed Skit at AMAs
Though she put on a brave face at the American Music Awards on Tuesday, Britney Spears was upset by a skit that poked fun at her estranged husband Kevin Federline, sources tell PEOPLE.
"Britney was blindsided and upset," says a source familiar with the situation. "Some people from (her Jive Records) label were with her, and they were pissed. They asked that it not be shown on the (West Coast) feed." (The skit was indeed broadcast on the West Coast.)
In the skit, AMA host Jimmy Kimmel packed a fake K-Fed into a box and threw him into the ocean, calling the hip-hop artist a "the world's first ever no-hit wonder."
Spears was introduced just moments later to present an award to Mary J. Blige. Onstage, she betrayed no anger about the incident. Instead, she smiled and waved and told the crowd, "I'm so happy to be here."
A rep at Jive Records did not return calls. Federline's rep declined to comment. (News of Spears's reaction to the skit was first reported by E!'s Marc Malkin.)
Spears filed for divorce from Federline earlier this month after two years of marriage. Both Spears and Federline have asked for sole custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, 1, and Jayden James.
