We wouldn’t normally suggest such a thing, however we received a free download from Thinktank Marketing of the new Kevin Federline single “Privilege” off from his new album Playing With Fire, due out Oct. 31 via Reincarnate Music. We knew immediately that we had to share it with you. We are really generous that way.
Speaking as one who is not a fan of rap music, I may not be the best judge, but “Privilege” featuring singer Bosko is not half bad. The lyrics are not the best and a little funny, like, "One to the two, two to three/Fell asleep in the whip/woke up in the squee", yet the song maintains a vivacious flow. The heart of the song is its chorus with Bosko singing, "Let’s get something to smoke/and pour me a glass of Privilege/to wet my throat/Tonight it’s going down".
The tune is also refreshingly brief. It seems many rap songs these days run on and on to the brink of the 10 minute mark, while this ditty clocks in at 3:41. Although unfortunately with a lot of rap songs, it might be dated in six months due to the fact it’s about specific things going on in K-Fed’s life.
If you had to go by Federline’s one performance at the Teen Choice Awards a few months back, you might have said this guy didn’t have a shot in hell at being successful in rap. After hearing this single, you might want to rethink your position.
Take a listen to “Privilege” here, and let us know what you think.
Wow, and I almost went through this whole article without mentioning Britney Spears. Amazing.
