Access Confirms With Britney's Father: Spears Gives Birth To Second Child

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 12, 2006) -- Access Hollywood confirmed with Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, that Britney has given birth to her second child.

The proud grandfather says he has already seen the baby.

When Access Hollywood Executive Producer Rob Silverstein congratulated Mr. Spears, he said, "Thank you! We appreciate your concern. Everything is great."

Sean Preston will reach the tender age of 1 on Thursday, and now he reportedly has a baby brother.

And yes folks, that would make Kevin Federline a father four times over! He also has a four-year-old girl, Kori, and a two-year-old son, Kaleb, from a previous relationship with Shar Jackson.

Britney reportedly delivered a 6 lb, 11 oz baby boy, via C-section, just before 2 AM this morning.

Federline reportedly took her to the hospital last night to prepare for her C-Section surgery. Sean Preston was also born via C-section, almost a year ago.

According to reports, Kevin was joined at Britney's bedside by Britney's mom, Lynne, and her sister, Jamie Lynne. No one from Kevin's family was present.

Britney Spears & Kevin Federline Have a Boy

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have welcomed their second son together, a source close the family has confirmed to PEOPLE.

The baby boy, who was born just before 2 a.m. Tuesday at a Los Angeles hospital, was delivered via a scheduled C-section.

"Kevin had a smile on his face. He looked happy and upbeat," says an observer.

The whole thing, says a source, was smooth – just as the mom-to-be had predicted to PEOPLE back in August, saying childbirth "will be a piece of cake."

Spears, 24, and Federline, 28, already have a son, Sean Preston, who was born Sept. 14 last year. For Federline, the new arrival is his fourth child. He also has a daughter Kori, 4, and son Kaleb, 2, with actress Shar Jackson.

Spears first publicly confirmed this pregnancy during a May 9 visit to the Late Show with David Letterman. "Don't worry, Dave, it's not yours," she joked to the host, who responded: "Oh. Well, I think that's good news for both of us."

The birth of their second child comes as Spears and Federline celebrate their second anniversary: The couple wed on Sept. 18, 2004. The pair began talking about starting a family soon after. "I can see myself as a mom. Next year at 23, I am so there," she told PEOPLE shortly after the wedding.

Just four days short of the couple's first wedding anniversary, she had accomplished that goal by having Sean Preston.

The timing of baby No. 2's arrival may have been a surprise – Spears has said the pregnancy wasn't planned – but expanding her brood was never a question for the domesticity-craving pop star. Sean Preston "is going to be traveling on the road with me, so I think it will be good to have (a sibling) there with him," she told PEOPLE last month.

For Federline's part, the aspiring rapper told PEOPLE after his performance at the Teen Choice Awards last month, that he planned to take time off until after the baby was born. "I'm really going to kick back and wait and see when this baby is going to come, spend my time with my family and my wife," he said.

As for being pregnant a second time so quickly after the first, Spears said she's been happy to indulge her cravings for ice chips and chocolate, but having gained some 40 lbs., has also been frustrated at not having time to get back into the shape she was before becoming a mom. "I feel like I've been pregnant for 10 years!" she said.

Spears vowed that after the birth of her second child she'd get back to the gym – and back to work. "I'm definitely going to start working out in a huge way," she told PEOPLE last month.

Plus, the singer, whose last original album was 2003's In the Zone, is working on a new album due next year, which she describes as "cooler than ever – fun, upbeat and sexy."

Britney has a boy!

Insiders close to Kevin Federline and Britney Spears have confirmed to LifeandStylemag.com that at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 12, Britney, 24, gave birth by Cesarean section to a healthy baby boy.

A family insider, who congratulated Kevin via text message at 3 p.m. EST and asked if the couple had chosen a name for their son, exclusively tells LifeandStylemag.com that Kevin texted back: "Break out the cigars! We got a baby boy in the house!"

Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, and sister, Jamie Lynn, were present at the time of the birth, says the insider.

Kevin, 28, was in and out of the room, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in LA, throughout the procedure. But he confided to the insider: “That’s a lot to watch, man. But I’m proud of Brit. She handled it well, and she’s a glowing new mom. Man, I’m a father again!”

“Kevin said this was a lot easier to get through than the first C-section,” says the insider, “and he hopes for Britney to be home by tonight.”

Britney was admitted to the hospital late Monday night, says the insider. On the way to the hospital, Brit told Kevin she was craving a double cheeseburger and milkshake from In-N-Out Burger, but Kevin refused to stop to satisfy Brit’s urge.

Multiple reports state that the new addition to the Spears-Federline family is a boy, contradicting earlier reports by various outlets, including Life & Style, that Brit would have a girl.

Britney had been telling insiders that she believed she would have a girl, and a longtime friend of Brit’s from her hometown of Kentwood, Lousiana, tells LifeandStylemag.com: “She was really praying for a little girl.”

Now little Sean Preston, who turns 1 on Thursday, Sept. 14, has a birthday buddy!

LifeandStylemag.com sends best wishes to the happy family and a quick recovery for two-time mama Britney!

The couple have until now remained mum on the birth of their new son, but just yesterday at the hospital, an unshaven Kevin Federline, wearing a black T-shirt and baggy black shorts told LifeandStylemag.com exclusively: “Mom and baby are doing well, thanks, but we’re all really tired.”
